Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is gradually emerging as primary cause of death in various countries. COPD is regarded as phenomenon that occurs when there is a restriction of airflow from the lungs due to persistent inflammation and airway diseases. The Diaphragm is regarded as a primary muscle for respiration and has been a region of interest in the diagnosing of COPD cases. Recently, segmentation of internal organs like the lung and chest have been made possible through CT-Based Organ segmentation algorithms and deep learning-based methods. However, the segmentation of the diaphragm region is still a challenging task. Therefore, The Automatic Measurement technique proposed by this paper first conducts segmentation of the lower lobe of the lung from 2D slice images as an alternative to the diaphragm region and then calculate the mobility of the lower lobe during inhalation and exhalation.
